A Better Ending to the Hunger Games

Mind Two:
So if you don't live under a rock, by now you have probably heard about the Hunger Games, either the movie or the book. And if you haven't read the second or third book of the series, then stop reading this post because it contains spoilers. And a lot of you who have read the books, were most likely disappointed with the ending, because Suzanne Collins is a nut job and likes to kill people. Mind One and I were talking about this and we realized that you, as readers (or movie watchers) and fans of us, deserve better than that. So we are here to present you with *drum roll* a better ending to the Hunger Games Trilogy!!! And if we get really motivated, a movie version. So here you go.

Since this is a blog and not a book, I will just sum up some key points for you.

Let's start with the end of book two. Katniss has been rescued from her second Hunger Games and told about The Revolution. Peeta was captured and taken to the Capitol to be totured. And right before Katniss went into the arena for the second time, she saw Cinna beaten to death because of the outfit he made her for the interview. Then Katniss goes to District 13 with Gale after being rescued from the arena. There, she meets the woman who will eventually become the new president, President Coin. Then she does a bunch of media stuff and fighting and then Peeta comes to District 13. He hates Katniss and thinks she is on the bad side because the Capitol tortured him with tracker jacker poison. Towards the end, President Snow and President Coin both die, and so do Prim and Finnick. Gale just disappears into another district, which puts Peeta and Katniss together in District 12. THE END.

And that was the extremely disappointing ending to the Hunger Games trilogy.

So now for my ending.

First of all, Cinna should have never died. The last thing she sees before she goes into the arena is Cinna being beaten, that part was fine. But he shouldn't have died. When she gets rescued by the hovercraft, the first thing she should see is Cinna. Then everybody lives happily ever after and Cinna doesn't have to die. (m1. In my world, Cinna lives, because Cinna is a god.)

Another thing that went wrong. Peeta. I loved Peeta in the first two books. Team Peeta all the way. But the third book made me hate him, because he hated Katniss, and I found myself kind of wishing she had ended up with Gale, because I don't like the new Peeta. His whole real or not thing, drives me to the brink of insanity.  My solution: Peeta does get taken out of the arena and he gets captured by the Capitol. He still gets tortured, but not with tracker jacker poison. Why not take it to the brink of dying, as far as torturing goes? That would be just as dramatic as the poison, but it would make a lot more people happy. The heroic story of how Peeta gets rescued and he is beaten to a bloody pulp and Katniss sees him and thinks back to all the time they spent in the arena, and then she realizes how much she loves him and that he is the one for her. Which brings me to my next point.

Gale. Suzanne Collins, I do not understand how you got away with just sending Gale away, like there was nothing ever there. That made me mad, too. Gale was supposed to die! That sounds horrible, but it could have turned out as a much better book if she had just offed Gale. She could have done it while he was in the line of battle, he didn't quite make it in one of the battle scenes. Then the world would have remembered him as a hero, instead of a coward who ran away from Katniss, and then Katniss wouldn't have felt guilty about her choice of being with Peeta. (m1. I hate peeta, but I'm glad that he's with Katniss, because that leaves open season on gale. DIBS)

Two last things to touch on: Finnick and Prim.
Suzanne Collins: WHAT THE HELL?!?! Why would someone in their right mind kill off Prim. The whole world just fell in love with her. And you pick NOW to kill her off? And what about Finnick? You couldn't have killed him off when he was an arrogant bastard? You had to wait until he married Annie and we actually started to like him? There is something seriously wrong with you.
I would have just had Prim be the only one that got out of that expolsion. That would have been a great idea. And Finnick and Annie deserved a happily-ever-after ending.

Now, I am done with my rampage. And watch the book shelves because I may just have to turn this into a novel.

Mind one.
I threw in some random comments, but honestly there isn't much to add to this other than..uh...WE ARE BETTER AT WRITING ENDINGS THEN YOU ARE SUZANNE!!!!
I shall now prove it by writing an epic end to this post.

The whole point being, you think you are J.K. Rowling, and that you can write some books, then kill off the people we all love and it will be okay. NO. J.K. did this in seven books, and seriously I would like to hit her for killing Dobby, and Fred, and Lupin, and Tonks, and everyfreakingone else I loved. So watch out for a new post soon about called "Notes from a Potterhead."
